Botulinum Toxin- one of the most common medical spa procedures. Botulinum toxin works to temporarily paralyze the muscles to decrease fine wrinkles in the face. The toxin acts by binding to a protein at the neuromuscular junction to inactivate the muscle. This typically lasts approximately three to four months as this is the time it takes for the nerve terminal to regenerate. While the muscle is temporarily paralyzed, the overlying skin is tightened above it, thereby lessening the appearance of wrinkles. This procedure is currently FDA approved for the glabellar (between eyes). However, it is often used for other areas on the face and even other areas of the body

As we age, the face undergoes a visible volume loss. Dermal fillers are gel-like substances that are injected beneath the skin to restore lost volume, smooth lines and soften creases, enhance facial contours, and plump the lips. This, combined with botulinum toxins, are a cost-effective way to look younger without the high cost of surgery or downtime. They are comprised of various substances such as hyaluronic acid (HA), calcium hydroxyapatite (CaHA), poly-L-lactic acid and polymethylmethacrylate (PMMA). Other newer options such as autologous fat injections involve obtaining the patient’s own fat cells and injecting them into certain areas of the face to restore volume. The results typically last 9 months to a year depending on the product. One of our qualified nurse injectors will be able to assist you in determining the correct filler for your specific condition.
Some uses include:
Smooth out lines around nose and mouth (a.k.a. Marionette lines, smile lines, and parentheses)
Enhance & restore volume to sunken cheeks or temples
Diminish vertical lip lines
Plump & enhance the lips
Smooth out a chin crease
Improve symmetry among facial features

This is a skin rejuvenation procedure that is similar to a microdermabrasion except uses water that exfoliates and is more effective due to its 4-in-1 vortex technology that exfoliates, peels, extracts impurities and hydrates the skin. Step 1 cleans and exfoliates the skin surface. Step 2 breaks up the debris in the pores using glycolic and salicylic acid. Step 3 utilizes a strong vacuum to suction blackheads and other debris that were broken up in previous step. Step 4 infuses antioxidant serum Antiox-6 into the skin. Antiox-6 is comprised of hyaluronic acid, vitamins A & E, White Tea Extract, Horse Chestnut Extract, Rosemary Extract and Turtle Shell Flakes. All this helps to protect skin from free radical damage.

Microneedling, also known as collagen induction therapy, involves using fine needles to create hundreds of tiny, invisible puncture wounds in the top layers of the skin creating micro-injuries. This process stimulates the body’s natural wound healing processes, thereby rejuvenating and tightening the skin surface. New collagen is thus formed replacing what is lost from the aging process. This is can be a very effective treatment for visible scarring due to acne and reducing fine and deep wrinkles. It may also help reverse sun damage and pigmentation by stimulating collagen growth. Microneedling may also make your skincare products work better allowing the topical medications to penetrate the skin more efficiently. The treatment isn’t exclusive to the face. It can be used to treat scars and stretch marks or any other part of the body that needs to be repaired. Here at Orchid, we use the the first device of its kind to be cleared by the FDA, the SkinPen(tm).

Laser Therapy Laser treatments are becoming very popular aesthetic procedures. It involves using different wavelengths of focused light to produce a desired response for the results patients want.

Treatments include:
Facial vessel clearance and pigment reduction
Surgical and acne scar treatment
Surgical and acne scar treatment
Wrinkle reduction
Leg vein clearance
Permanent hair reduction
Fractional skin resurfacing

Body contouring is a form of non-surgical, minimally to non-invasive procedure to destroy or reduce adipose (fat) tissue. The goal of the treatment is to reshape certain parts of the body such as the abdominal, flanks, or thigh areas to give a more lean, tone look. This can be performed in a variety of different ways, such as freezing (cryolipolyisis), radiofrequency ablation, or laser destruction. This procedure is best utilized in patients who are committed to a healthy lifestyle and maintain a healthy weight but are trying to shed those stubborn last few inches. Combined with a healthy diet and exercise, this is a very effective treatment. Orchid Aesthetics uses the highly sought after FDA approved BTL Vanquish. This device uses radiofrequency emitted from a papal array to create the a high-frequency energy field that targets the thermal effects into the fat layer protecting the surrounding skin tissue. It is approved for circumferential reduction of the abdominal area, which is a the problem area for most people.

One of the certainties of our lives is the fact our hormone levels will begin to fall drastically in our 40’s and 50’s, and sometimes sooner. Hormones are the “conductor” of our bodies (orchestra) that keeps all the “instruments” playing in sync. When levels become suboptimal or suboptimal relative to other hormone levels, severe symptoms can develop. Just ask a woman going through menopause! This is precisely why multiple labs are checked at the beginning to establish baseline values. The aim is to bring blood levels (restore) to a that of a your younger self where you experienced no symptoms. Much like diet and exercise, not everyone is equal. Patients may experience symptoms at different levels than others, therefore, each plan will be customized for that individual. Often times changing diet and increasing or changing activity level will cause hormones to normalize. Keep in mind there are many hormones within your body, not just the sex hormones. Again, it’s important to understand that all the hormones work together to create a harmonious environment. BHRT is an EXACT replica of the native hormones and is compounded (mixed) by a specialized pharmacist, a compound pharmacist. Unfortunately, these compounds are not regulated by the FDA for pure ness and concentration. Therefore, having a compound pharmacist that is trusted is absolutely essential. Orchid is very fortunate to have partnered with local pharmacist Tracy Dryer of Sterling Pharmacy. Her business is located 10 minutes away at 19321 East 40 Hwy, Suite P, Independence, MO. She specializes in bio-identical hormone restorative therapy. Rest assured that you will be getting exactly what medication was prescribed.

Intravenous infusion (IV) involves dripping liquid solutions (one liter) through a venous intravascular catheter over 20-30 minutes. Medication solutions can often be added to the infusion, including vitamins and minerals. This simple therapy, although very important, is becoming a very popular spa treatment. It has become well-known to physicians who monitor hydration status that most people’s water intake is deficient and many of the vitamins and minerals in food are insufficient to sustain our many metabolic cellular processes. This can have a short term symptom effect as well as a long term health benefits.
